Wake Boarding and Shoreline Management on White Bear Lake

We’ve compiled this info package to share current information and recommendations related to wake sports, based on research conducted by the University of Minnesota St. Anthony Falls Lab (SAFL). Also included in the package is a map of your lake that shows potentially suitable areas for wake boating that are at least 500 ft from the shore, 20 ft deep, and 50 contiguous acres in size.
Please note that we are not proposing any regulations.
In Minnesota, rules related to speed and horsepower limits, wake restrictions, and other types of surface use zoning on lakes and rivers are established by local government (city, township or county) and approved by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources before they go into effect. Watershed Districts and Soil and Water Conservation Districts do not make or enforce these types of rules.
