Facts about the Dellwood Camera System
- What type of Camera system does the city of Dellwood possess?
Dellwood has a contract with the Rekor camera company, not Flock.
- Who has access to the Camera data?
The only individuals that have access to the Camera data are City officials. The camera data is viewed only after the city receives a request from a Minnesota law enforcement agency seeking information on a significant crime that occurred in Dellwood or to assist law enforcement in an effort to enhance public safety such as the search of a missing child or a disabled individual.
- How often is the Camera system viewed?
The Dellwood system is rarely viewed. Since 2024, the Dellwood Rekor system has been viewed on two occasions, both after law enforcement made an official request for the data. The first was when a vehicle was stolen. The second was when an adolescent was missing. On both occasions, the system was viewed after the Washington County Sheriff’s office made an official request for the data.
- Is the Dellwood Camera system data available to the public?
No, the camera system is not available for review by the public.
- Is the Dellwood system connected to any other government database?
No, the Dellwood Camera system is not connected to any other government database. It is a stand-alone system.
The system is designed to assist law enforcement. Camera data is released only after a significant crime occurs within Dellwood or a significant public safety issue arises. Law enforcement must make an official request for the data.
- How long does the City of Dellwood retain camera data?
Historically, the Dellwood camera system data retention had been set for five days. Recently, after the vandalism of the Dellwood Camera system occurred, the camera system data retention has been increased to fourteen days, thus further enhancing law enforcement’s investigative capability.
- What Policies guide the system?
The City of Dellwood has a complete compliance policy, which strictly dictates who, what, why and when the system is utilized.
