The City of Dellwood Minnesota is situated on the northeast corner of White Bear Lake and has a population of 1,300.  The city is governed by the mayor, city council, city attorney and the city clerk.

The City Clerk is a part-time position that reports to the mayor of Dellwood, and is responsible for all aspects of the administration of a small city.  The current city clerk is retiring after many years of service and Dellwood is seeking a new person who is looking for a long term position.

This position has the flexibility of part-time hours with various duties of city government that allows work to be done independently with the assistance from the other city officials.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the city hall office administration including the city office. that is shared with two other small neighboring cities.
  • The main communication with the city residents through the city website and phone.
  • Responsible for the billing/collection of city services provided and for the payments of city expenses. Utilize and maintain computer databases and accounting software, which is CTAS (Small Cities Accounting System).
  • Maintenance of the city website
  • Prepare and maintain official reports, legal documents, financial records and reference materials, including payroll and payroll reports.
  • Plans, creates, edits and distributes City Council and Planning Commission agenda packets, including coordinating and reviewing materials, finalizing agendas and overseeing distribution of the packets.
  • Receives and coordinates responses to all legal requests to the city attorney.
  • Serves as the City’s Election Official, coordinating all aspects of city and general elections including securing polling locations, recruiting, training and supervising election judges and interfacing with county and state election officials.
  • Coordinates with city sub contractors regarding road services, inspections and code enforcement.
  • Monitors contracts and other agreements ensuring they are signed, recorded in a timely manner and that insurance certificates are received.
  • Issue Liquor & Cigarette licenses, building and septic permits, and charitable function permits.
  • Prepare and publish proper public notices.
  • Administer all banking-related matters.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of local government administration experience
  • Computer skills and knowledge of software applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest in learning new things
  • Work independently


Working Hours:

City Hall hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 to 2:30.  City Council Meeting 2nd Tuesday Evening of each month. Hours could be flexible.
